46 Years Old Male, Business Owner, Husband and Father to 4 Children. I started the sport of Triathlon only 2.5 years ago after a background of Professional Cycling some 15 years earlier. In the short space of time I have had to learn to swim Effectively and Run efficiently to achieve the results I have. I have always believed in a high work ethic combined with solid Goals leads to personal success. I try to be a role model for my family, as I believe sport leads to some great life skills and amazing personal relationships, and Travel experience.
I have always loved water and hold an advanced scuba ticket. Swimming now enables me to get back into the water and experience those sensations again. I especially like open water swimming and we have a great club who do training sessions all through summer and then in winter in the pool. We also have a local open water Swim series held, which has been great to give it 100% in the water without having to hold back for a bike and run. When I am not training, I am running a retail business and spending time with my family, including supporting my children at their sporting and cultural endeavours.
While a lot of my goals were results based, I now find with Triathlon I can set Performance based ones, which is very satisfying ticking off the Personal Bests.
Some of the results I have gained include:
Aquabike World Champion AG 2019
Kona Ironman World Championships Double Qualifier and Finisher. (2nd Fastest Bike Split AG)
Bintan 70.3 Half Ironman 1st AG
Sprint Tri National Champion AG
Aquabike National Champion Overall & AG
Taupo 70.3 Half Ironman 1st AG
Kiwiman Extreme Triathlon 1st & Course Record Holder
Commonwealth Games Representative & Ex Professional Cyclist.
